Valve is stepping up its game, and doing so with three new faces. With a new hardware offensive, the company wants to show that PC gaming is no longer just about a mouse and keyboard.
Valve is launching three new devices: In addition to the home Steam Machine for big games on TV, the Steam Frame is a new headset that enables both VR and regular gaming. The brand-new Steam Controller rounds off the trio and promises significantly more comfort than previous gamepads.
What's Behind This?
The Steam Machine is designed to be a full-fledged gaming console for the living room. You log in with your Steam account and have access to your entire library. At the same time, the device remains open like a PC and supports its own software and operating systems.
The Steam Frame relies on wireless connectivity and streaming functionality: a headset that allows you to not only play your Steam games on a monitor, but also experience them directly in the room. It uses eye tracking, has its own processing unit, and is compatible with both VR and classic games.
The Steam Controller offers many features: magnetic thumbsticks, HD haptics, customizable button assignments, and trackpads, allowing you to play mouse and keyboard games from your sofa. It works with PCs, Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and also with the Steam Frame.
When Will the Trio Release?
Valve plans to release the devices in early 2026. Pricing details are not final yet, but the company is talking about a clear step into the new console and streaming era.
If you're a PC gamer and have grown fond of your Steam library, a huge opportunity is on the horizon: gaming on the big screen, on the go, or in virtual space. Whether you love action blockbusters or playing indie titles with friends, Valve wants to give you more freedom and convenience. What's more, this hardware strategy shows that PC gaming isn't just limited to your desk, but has a future in your living room and beyond.
More Than Just New Devices
Valve is making a strong statement with the announcement of the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller. They don't just want to play along, they want to change the scene. For you, that means more choice, new hardware, and possibly the next big step in gaming.
