Asmongold takes an extremely harsh stance on immigration – and people demand he finally gets banned. But what exactly is the context of this clip?
Headlines like "Asmongold said something controversial and is getting a lot of backlash" start to sound like "News flash: The sky is blue". Asmongold is probably Twitch's most controversial streamer, and most of his clips that go viral only add fuel to that fire. But now he really seems to have pushed the boundaries too far.
The Incident And His Harsh Stance On Immigration
Over the years, Asmongold has made his opinions on certain things very clear, including immigration. But his most recent statement on it sparked more backlash than ever before: How can he say something like that while live on Twitch without getting banned?
It was one of his usual commentary streams. He likes to go through his timeline and things that are currently happening in the world and talk about them with his chat, so him opening the conversation to talk about immigration does not seem out of character. Then, when the topic switches to deportation, he says:
"If I knew that I could get these people deported and sent back to [freaking] Guatemala or Somalia or wherever [...] they came from, if I knew I could do that I would take a break from my stream."
He then goes into further detail and discusses how he would join ICE agents on these deportations and made a tasteless Pokémon joke in relation to how he would "catch 'em all" and how he "would be so brutal with these people, people would say it's too much". While he was seen laughing in front of his viewers, others took the clip to Twitter and got very mad. But instead of questioning Asmongold's character they rather direct their anger towards Twitch. How can this statement not be enough to ban him?
Asmongold demands a "solution" to deal with migrants in America and offers to help ICE personally brutalize families.

"These parasite migrants..we have an infection, there's clearly a problem.. and there's clearly a solution, but they don't want to talk about that." "I will be... pic.twitter.com/xOjIGeUcjM
Many of his supporters point out that this clip was allegedly taken out of context. YouTuber Rev says desu, for example, explains that the clip comes from a stream in which Asmongold was reacting to a video by Nick Shirley where he allegedly exposes groups of immigrants for tax payer fraud around fake daycare centers. But even with this context, Asmongold's comments still seem to clearly cross a line.
1. No, the people committing the fraud weren't even "migrants". He just wants to justify cruelty

2. If he cared about fraudsters, why not focus on the biggest one of them all? pic.twitter.com/SeIQ5IEBis
How Much Is Too Much?
Asmongold has tested how much he can push Twitch's boundaries before, but never got a ban that was long enough for him to part ways with the platform. It seems as though his statements get tolerated because people are used to him saying such things. If you want to read more about a time he actually did get banned (even if just temporary), click here: "They come from an inferior culture" – Twitch streamer Asmongold banned for offensive tirade against Palestinians
But this time people demand justice and turn directly to Twitch for it. One person writes:
"And @Twitch thinks this isn't a bannable offense? Gross, dude."
