A 14-year-old boy reportedly survived the shooting that left TikTok creator Cindy Tamez, her partner and her three children dead in northern Mexico. His account could help investigators reconstruct what happened inside the family’s home, as prosecutors pursue the theory that Tamez killed her partner and children before dying by suicide.

The five deaths were discovered on September 30 in Montemorelos, Nuevo León. Tamez and her youngest child were found inside a Jeep. Her partner, Leodegario Moya, and her two other children were subsequently found shot to death at a nearby house.

For more than 70,000 TikTok followers, Tamez had been a familiar presence sharing fashion videos and glimpses of her life in Mexico. Now, investigators are examining evidence from two locations to establish the sequence of the killings.

A Teenager Reportedly Hid Inside the House

According to an October 2 report by El Financiero, which cited a source close to the investigation, the teenager was inside the house when the violence began. He reportedly witnessed one of the shootings, then hid and remained there until the attack was over.

The same source said Tamez had seen the boy inside the property but did not shoot him. Authorities have not publicly established why he was spared.

N+ also reported that the teenager had witnessed part of the attack and was placed under the protection of state authorities. His testimony is being considered alongside the physical evidence as investigators work to determine what happened.

Ballistic Evidence Links the Two Locations

Nuevo León Attorney General Javier Flores Saldívar said cartridge cases recovered from the house matched those found in the vehicle, according to N+. Prosecutors believe Tamez first killed her partner and two children at the property, then killed her youngest child before taking her own life.

Flores also raised a possible argument between the couple as part of the investigation, although the cause of that alleged dispute has not been established. The murder-suicide scenario remains the prosecution’s preliminary theory.

Tamez’s final TikTok post appeared on September 30, according to People. The video showed a car dashboard with text describing a willingness to harm herself in pursuit of revenge against someone else.

Investigators are continuing to examine security footage, the recovered firearm and other evidence. The teenager’s account could help fill in the sequence inside the house, while prosecutors work to establish a motive and reach a final determination.
