Kit Barrus says a rejected friend hid jewelry in her home that she believes was intended as a love spell.
Cleaning up after hosting a poker night should involve little more than collecting stray playing cards and empty cups. Instead, Kit Barrus found a hidden piece of personalized jewelry that she believes was planted as a love spell. According to the adult content creator, a former college classmate she had previously rejected left the item behind inside her apartment.
A friendship with conflicting intentions
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Barrus explained that the two initially connected while working together on a college math assignment. Following a relationship breakup, she welcomed his company and late-night discussions. However, when he attempted to pursue a romantic relationship, she repeatedly told him they were incompatible.
The acquaintance eventually attended a poker gathering at her residence, where Barrus recalled him sitting quietly in the kitchen corner. Two days later, while cleaning her apartment, she noticed a small plastic bag hidden behind decorative items. Inside was a piece of custom jewelry engraved with her name.
Discovering an unwanted gift concealed within private living quarters immediately raised alarms.
A parting gift or an intentional ritual?
Recalling the classmate's personal interest in esoteric and spiritual practices, Barrus looked online for context. Her search uncovered descriptions of folk rituals where handmade jewelry is charged with romantic intention and hidden in a target's living space.
According to Barrus, she photographed the item and confronted him directly. While he acknowledged creating the jewelry, he insisted it was merely an innocent gift and denied performing any ritual. Unconvinced by his explanation, Barrus ended all contact with him immediately.
Cleansing the space and moving on
Barrus later told The New York Post that she immediately discarded the jewelry and cleansed her home with sage. "I was terrified it would work and I'd get feelings for him," she stated during the interview.
While the incident stems from her college years, Barrus only recently shared the full account publicly. Regardless of supernatural beliefs, the revelation of an uninvited item hidden in her private home permanently severed the friendship.
