In an episode straight out of a crime thriller - minus the thrilling part and more with the "didn't see that coming" twist - Kodam Pranay Kumar, an Indian YouTuber with a penchant for culinary experimentation, found himself in trouble. The recipe in question? A dish that has local authorities up in arms: peacock curry.

Kumar, a digital kitchen maestro from Telangana, India, recently uploaded a video showcasing his culinary skills in preparing a dish he called "traditional peacock curry". It seems that Kumar's attempt to serve up a unique gastronomic experience has instead landed him in a pot of legal trouble.

The video, which has since been removed from his YouTube channel, garnered some attention - but not the kind Kumar probably had in mind. After the video went viral, Kumar was arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The same law that protects India's national bird, the peacock, from becoming somebody else's dinner.According to Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan, the case against Kumar is not a light one. "A case has been registered under the relevant laws and strict action will be taken against him and anyone else involved in such activities," Mahajan said.Now, Kumar's curry is under scrutiny for its legality. Authorities have sent samples of the curry and Kumar's blood to the lab for forensic analysis. If the tests reveal that the curry was indeed spiced with peacock meat, Kumar could face a sentence that includes a hefty fine and possible imprisonment.

It seems that Kumar's culinary adventure was a little too adventurous for his own good. The peacock enjoys one of the highest levels of legal protection in India. Hunting, killing, or capturing these birds is strictly prohibited, with offenders facing a minimum of three years and up to seven years in prison, as well as a fine.
As Kumar's case stews in the legal system, animal rights activists and netizens have rallied for tough action, sending a clear message: no matter how exotic your recipe, some ingredients are off limits.
