Azami is a great defender, with her utility standing out significantly. She starts with one Kiba Barrier, and over time, she can stack up to five. These Kiba Barriers can effectively close off lines of sight from a distance and can be challenging for attackers to destroy.
As a beginner, it's best to focus on opening windows and doors to prevent attackers from peeking to them. As you improve, you can start implementing more advanced strategies, such as bunkering down with your Kiba Barriers, making it hell on earth to peak you. Trust us when we say most players won't even try pushing you, if you built up your castle of Kibas correctly.
Even though she got nerfed and attackers can now shoot the Barriers, they need a lot of bullets to do so. During this time, you can either secure easy kills or waste the attackers' time. Wasting time is an important tool for defenders in Siege, which is why Azami earns her spot on this list.

Since release, "breach denial" has been an important feature in Rainbow Six Siege. The best way to keep the bomb site safe is preventing Operators from opening up lines of sights! Bandit and Kaid are both great Operators in doing so. They both have great weapons and with their utility, they can electrify up to 4 walls, which allows defenders to feel a lot more safe at the bomb site.
While they're similar in their ability, each one has his unique features; Bandit has a great primary weapon, is more flexible in his role. He can roam or anchor and has a C4, what makes him a lot of fun to play, after you're done putting down your charges.
Kaid on the other hand has a stronger ability; His charges don't have to be directly connected to the wall, they have a specific radius. You can hide them at different spots near the wall, which makes it very hard for attackers to find and shoot them.
So Bandit has the stronger weapon and Kaid the stronger utility; both are great in their own way and definitely deserve to be listed here!

If you ask any Rainbow 6 Siege player what Operator he/she hates the most to play against, 80 percent of all players would answer Fenrir. Unfortunately, that's why he's banned in nearly every ranked match, especially in lower ranks.
Nevertheless, he's a great Operator for beginners and solo queuers, mainly because his utility is ridiculously strong; He can throw five of his traps around the map, and if attackers get near them, they become blind for the amount of time they stand next to it plus 3 seconds. This gives you enough time to secure a free pick with your MP7, which is a strong weapon.
Everyone on your team can use these traps to guarantee a kill once you set them all up. His only downside is that he can "only" activate three at a time, which is quite sufficient, if you ask us. He would probably be number one if he weren't constantly banned.

His ability consists of 4 Jammers that block the signal of almost every attacker gadget in its radius. When you set up your Mute Jammers correctly, attackers can't gather intel with their drones, which is crucial in a game where information is everything. His primary weapon is a shotgun, which is great for site setup (making rotations, head holes, footholes, etc.), and his secondary is the SMG-11, which has reached legendary status in Siege. It has a lot of recoil, but it's not a complicated pattern, so it's easy to learn!
If you see yourself in the support role, then Mute is your best option. While giving attackers a hard time gathering intel, your shotgun is a one-shot, one-kill machine, and the SMG-11 works very well at a distance. And the best part: He rarely gets banned because everyone loves him.

Solis is the perfect roamer, if used right! She probably has the best defender utility in the game and is the optimal Operator for solo players, who just want to go roaming and picking kills.
She has a scanner that locates electrical devices on the attacking side. This scanner can detect drones, claymores, gadgets, and, most importantly, the phones of attackers (but only when they use them). Attackers are nowhere safe while droning when Solis is on board. She allows you to get a lot of free kills, and what makes her almost unique is that she can deny plants vertically. Yes, you heard us right, her scanner also detects the Defuser.
Especially as a solo player, you can handle most tasks alone with her, and if you want, you can also mark enemy gadgets for your team. While she isn't very beginner-friendly, she's absolutely worth maining and definitely the best Defender in the game right now.
