Get in your sports shoes and go out into the world - the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 is just minutes away! What exactly will happen? What last-minute preparations should you do before it begins? We're going to tell you! We've also got some valuable insider tips for you.

It's the final countdown... At 10 a.m. CET, Pokémon Go Fest 2020 kicks off. For the first time, it is not in specific locations or cities, but virtually around the world. What is going to happen? For days, the community has been puzzling over the raids, challenges, Pokémon and surprises that await us. Here are all the details about the two-day event.

Pokémon Go Fest 2020: Day 1, July 25

The event starts at 10 a.m. CET today and continues until 8 p.m. There is а special research, which the trainers only get on day 1.

There are five rotating habitats that change every hour: Fire, water, grass, fight and friendship. Since the event goes on for ten hours, each habitat will be the focus twice.

Trainers can encounter more than 75 Pokémon species in the wild, during raids and by completing special research.

In the Global Challenge Arena, all Trainers will be able to tackle challenges together. When they complete a Challenge, they'll receive a bonus for the rest of the hour. The popular Hyperbonus Weeks/UltraUnlock Bonus will also be unlocked through tasks. Global progress can be tracked on the Global Challenge Arena screen.

In the arena for the Global Challenge, 32 challenges can be tackled together. After every eight challenges completed, an additional Hyperbonus Week will be unlocked - in total, there are three such events to earn. When the Pokémon Go Fest 2020 begins, you can track the progress of the Global Challenge under "Today". The first Hyperbonus Week is Dragon Week (July 31-August 7), the second is Enigma Week (August 7-14) and the last is Einall Week (August 14-21).

Global Challenges: Gifts

Niantic has published a spoiler on global challenges: most likely during Habitat Friendship the aim will be to send as many gifts as possible to friends. If the task is mastered, there should be a certain item until the end of the Habitat, which you will get from gifts received. Do not send any gifts until the challenge begins!

Pokémon Go Fest 2020: Day 2, 26 July

Same as Day 1 - starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m CET and another special research, which the trainers only get on day 2.

A special surprise has been announced, but it will only be revealed on the second day of the 2020 Pokémon Go Fest. Hence why it's a surprise.

The Pokémon Go rumor mill is boiling on what it will be. Will it be the Crypto Mewtwo? A new mystical Pokémon? Or the mega-evolutions we'd hoped for? No one knows for sure. One thing is certain: We're expecting big things!

Insider Tips for the 2020 Pokémon GO Fest

  • The minimum level to get started in the Pokémon Go Fest was estimated at 10. From that point on, all features can be "easily" implemented.
  • Don't send gifts until the global challenge begins.
  • The official Pokémon Go YouTube channel will have live streams and videos running all weekend long.
  • Use smoke: if activated during the event, it will last for an hour and is more effective at attracting special Pokémon.
  • Visit the Virtual Team Lounge: Ten hours is a long time, so take a break and join your fellow players and the Niantic Team in the Virtual Team Lounge. There you'll find live video content, chat with other Pokémon Go fans and check out your team's contributions to the Global Challenge Arena.
  • Dress up your avatar to match the celebrations. There's a special outfit for this in the Store.

Last-Minute Preparations for Pokémon GO Fest 2020

  • Clean up your item box and make room, if possible, for potions, gifts, balls and co.
  • Make room in the Pokémon Box If you want to spend the day running around and catching as much as possible, make room in your Pokémon Storage. Otherwise, you'll have to keep deleting things from time to time.
  • Is the technology ready? No Pokémon Go Fest works without a charged mobile phone, one or two Power Banks, mobile phone cables, etc. Is everything ready? Is everything loaded? Then you're ready to go.
  • Clothing: Comfortable shoes and, if necessary, rain gear should be included, otherwise there could be blisters or a wet surprise.
  • Food and Drink: Pokémon Go players aren't called trainers for nothing. Ten hours can be a lot of work, so make sure you take enough snacks and water with you.
  • Remember the mask: Thanks to Corona, masks are still mandatory in shops and restaurants in most countries. So if you want to stop somewhere today and tomorrow, don't forget your mouth guard.
  • Route: Running aimlessly can work, but it's better to have a specific route in mind that you want to take - with many arenas, Poké Stops and so on.

That's about it. The Pokémon Go Fest 2020 is about to begin. We wish you lots of fun and success in catching, raiding and overcoming challenges!
