Whenever Feud: Capote vs. The Swans releases, one thing's for sure – the cast looks just as promising as the one from the first season. And, don't worry: if you don't know who those people being portrayed are, I've got you covered down below. But one step at a time, here's the cast:

  • Tom Hollander as Truman Capote
  • Naomi Watts as Babe Paley
  • Diane Lane as Slim Keith
  • Chloë Sevigny as Lucy Douglas "C. Z." Guest
  • Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill
  • Demi Moore as Ann Woodward
  • Treat Williams as William Paley
  • Molly Ringwald as Joanne Carson

Pretty sure those actors ring some bells, but the whole feud the show covers is from the 1970's. No shame if you have no clue who these people are and what happened between them – here's a comprehensible breakdown of the quarrel.

The Capote vs. The Swans feud features a way bigger cast than season one did. Back in 1970, there were lots of people involved – Truman Capote, first of all.

Capote was an American author, famous for his works like Breakfast at Tiffany's or In Cold Blood as well as his taste in company. More often than not, he was with New York's high society. As a writer, he took inspiration from his life – or that of his wealthy friends, leading to a huge scandal.

Esquire magazine published a serialized excerpt of his upcoming novel "Answered Prayers." That's what caused the rift between Capote and his friends "The Swans": he revealed private details about his high society friends, ranging from embarrassing to seriously messed up, ruining most of his relationships and his reputation.

"The Swans" whose alleged secrets have been revealed by their former friend Truman Capote consists of a group if highly influential women. If the Swans had a Queen Bee, it would have been Babe Paley, wife of William Paley (founder of CBS). She had it all: the beauty, the elegance, the money. But she also had marital issues that she shouldn't have shared with Capote. When he published those, their friendship was over.

The other women, fashion icons at the time and girlbosses in their own right, basically got the same treatment as Babe Paley and got exposed by Capote, leading to the fallout between the Swans and the author.

In eight episodes, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans will probably show where betrayal gets you. You don't mess with powerful women, and you don't spill your friends' secrets, simple as that!
