Trump has launched a new social media platform that won't "discriminate against political ideology" - say hello to TRUTH social. You'll be hearing that name a lot.
Donald Trump - love him or hate him - is a master of social media. It massively helped him when he first launched his presidential campaign, and he used it throughout his presidency to great effect. But after the January riots mainstream social media platforms began censoring his output or outright banning him.
His exclusion from those platforms explains why he fell into such obscurity after dominating the headlines for four years. But it looks like he wants a comeback, and with his own platform this time, he can set the rules.
The TRUTH Social
It's a terrible name, that much is certain, but you can register for the TRUTH Social today, you just need a name and an email address. The intention of the platform is obvious, as they themselves describe:
TRUTH Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.
In short, this is a platform where you can be more right-wing than you would normally be allowed. We don't know whether it's an anonymous platform or not yet.
TRUTH Social obviously won't be able to compete with Twitter and Facebook, but it could be the first of this new breed of 'free speech' social platforms to go mainstream. He certainly has the name recognition to make that much happen, and clearly there's an appetite among right-leaning users of these platforms to be able to speak more freely.
When Will The TRUTH Social Launch?
TRUTH Social has no official launch date, and at the moment the website is only a registration page that will put you on the mailing list for when it does go live. Knowing Trump this may never actually happen, but if it does, expect it in months not years. Read More:
