To the surprise of a lot of people, Gears of War Netflix adaptations were announced by the streaming giant. There will (of course) be an animated series, as well as a live-action film. And very quickly, Twitter has been aflame with passionate pleas for which actors should be in the film. Even some of the original creators of the games chimed in to voice their opinions on the possible cast.

People Really Want Dave Bautista in Gears of War

Nothing has been revealed about Gears of War, including the cast. The absolute favorite among the community is clearly Dave Bautista though. The wrestler-turned-actor is actually so fitting, that he is literally already in Gears 5 as an optional actor for Marcus Fenix. He himself already said back in 2018 that he would love to play the role in a movie.

Even some of the original creators of the game are rooting for Bautista. Rod Fergusson, one of the producers of the series, tweeted out his support for the adaptations and for Bautista being possibly cast in the film:

Can't believe it's been 16 years since the release of Gears of War on Emergence Day. It was the game I left MS to go make and I couldn't be prouder of what that small team achieved. Congrats to everyone at @CoalitionGears on today's Netflix news - 3rd time's the charm! #CastDave

Fergusson is not the only one; the legend himself, Cliff Bleszinski added his voice to the choir. And he also fired shots towards Chris Pratt – with some pretty clear language.

The clamoring for Bautista is big, and it would make so much sense to have him in the film. That could very well be a reason why Netflix of all companies would not cast him though...
