The Pokémon centre is an integral part of any Pokémon game. It’s where you go to heal your injured friends and it’s where you went when you wanted to trade Pokémon with your friend… who remember those days when you had to connect a pesky cable to your Game Boy Advance to get a new Pokémon?

Well, there could be an overhaul to the Pokémon centre in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet editions of the game.

What Will Change in Pokémon Violet & Scarlet?

On February 27, 2022 Game Freak announced Gen 9 of Pokémon and that it will be released at the end of 2022. They showed an epic release trailer and of course, hardcore fans have studied this piece of video like their lives depend on it and they’ve found something curious.

Now you’re wondering why we talked so much about the Pokémon centre, right? Well, it seems that in Gen 9 Pokémon centres will be receiving an overhaul! Not only do the centres look different, but Twitter user DeltaUminotami noticed something else… and that is the fact that they look like gas stations now.

Yup, you read that right, the Pokémon centre is now a Pokémon gas station, but there is an easy explanation for that, which DeltaUminotami explained in their tweet.

The reason the Pokémon Center is a gas station is to avoid unnecessary loading caused by entering and exiting the building,” they said. “It is very interesting to note that the Pokémon Center inside the City is a gas station. I think Riding Pokemon(?) can be used in the city.

Of course, this is just speculation and anything could happen, but when looking at the image, it does resemble a gas station and it does look different from the usual Pokémon centre’s we’ve grown up with.

So, the open-air design could save us a bit of load time throughout our games! This is going to be great for the new open-world theme that these Pokémon games have going for them.
