Let's get right to it: In an interview with Rolling Stones, Snoop Dogg revealed that Dr. Dre is working on new music. More specifically, he's working on new music for a GTA game. Yup, you heard that right. Here's the full quote:

“I do know he’s in the studio. I do know he’s making great fucking music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out. So I think that that will be the way that his music will be released, through the GTA video game.”

Interesting. Very interesting. Obviously, Rockstar denied comment on the matter, so all we have is Snoop's word to go by. Naturally, his comments sent the internet into a frenzy: Which GTA is Dr. Dre working on? Is it GTA 6? Does this give away anything on the game's time-frame or setting? Maybe, but I would argue that you shouldn't expect Dre to be working on GTA 6 music, and here's why:

GTA 6 will not be released for a while. With the upcoming release of the GTA Trilogy remaster, and the GTA 5 re-release, Rockstar would be stupid to release GTA 6 anytime soon. They can easily coast through 2023 without a new GTA release, and why would Dr. Dre be finishing up music now, that won't see the light of day until 2023? It doesn't make any sense, especially when considering that even a 2023 release date is very unlikely.

Thus, the new Dre beats must be coming to either the GTA Trilogy Remaster or GTA 5, and I would argue that the former makes more sense. More specifically, I expect Dr. Dre's new sounds to be a part of GTA San Andreas (which is free on Xbox, by the way). After all, San Andreas is set in the 90s and heavily influenced by the NWA. There's no game that hits closer to home for Dr. Dre, and there is no game more befitting of his musical genius.

Still, all of that is speculation, and the only thing we can be sure of is that we will finally get some new music from the Doc. Also, that probably means that we can continue waiting for Detox forever...
