Unlike Xbox players that are locked at 30 FPS, Starfield's PC players with an AMD graphics card have the chance to use the upscaling feature FSP to fix low FPS issues. But some players that tried to improve their FPS by using this feature were surprised when Starfield's performance didn't immediately improve, but instead sometimes dropped even more.

No worries, we're here to help you fix your low frame rates.

The FSR feature is buggy at the moment, and hopefully will get patched with future updates, but for now, this is a way you can try to fix it:

  1. If you already have FSR enabled, turn it off
  2. Go to Settings > Display > Presets
  3. Change to your desired Preset, then go back to low.
  4. This should automatically enable FSR

or alternatively, try to lower Render Resolution Scale from 100% to something like 50%.

Even with a decent mid-tier upper class graphics card, players report low FPS numbers, so we can expect some sort of performance buff in the future. Unfortunately, games recently have always come with some sort of bug, so this is no unusual situation.
