After Uncharted 4 came out in 2016, fans have been wondering for years if there will ever be another sequel to the long-standing action-adventure series surrounding Nathan Drake and his shenanigans. His story is basically finished, but the game's end has left some doors open for new stories.

However, maybe now it's time for fans to fully say goodbye to the beloved franchise, as Neil Druckmann talked in a new interview about Uncharted and whether Naughty Dog will go back to the series.

Druckmann was interviewed by Buzzfeed, and obviously the conversation was about the fantastic The Last of Us series. But he was also asked about a possible The Last of Us 3 and whether he could imagine continuing the series.

In his answer, Mr. Druckmann somehow managed to make everyone worried, not just TLOU fans. He also dragged Uncharted into this, by claiming that they're done with the series. Here's the full quote:

"Sony have supported us every step of the way to follow our passions — meaning that just because something is successful, people think there's all this pressure and we have to make a sequel. That's not the case. For us, Uncharted was insanely successful — Uncharted 4 was one of our best selling games — and we're able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we're done. We're moving on."

Well, that was it then. We had a good run, but it really seems like Uncharted is actually done. This is probably a good move, as Uncharted 4 already felt like squeezing the last drops out of the orange. Pushing the series even further would most definitely start feeling stale.

The Last of Us 3 is also anything but guaranteed. Naughty Dog seems instead to look into creating something new instead, as rumors are heating up that they're working on a new fantasy IP and another new IP.
