Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Get Formal Clothes

You will need formal clothing in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to complete certain quests. Here are three ways to get your hands on the proper attire.

The capital of Vernworth in Dragon’s Dogma 2 includes people from all walks of life, from the downtrodden in the slums to the super rich in the noble quarter and the palace area. It is this high society that you need to infiltrate in the quest The Stolen Throne. And for that, you’ll need to dress up appropriately. You will also need the so-called Courtly Clothes for the main quest The Feast of Deception.

How To Get Fancy Clothes In Dragon’s Dogma 2

Your first instinct will probably be to go to the armor shop in Vernworth and see if they have an haute couture section. And indeed, the shop does sell the Courtly Set, but only for an absurd price of 300,000 coins. Not worth it, as you can get the clothes for free.

One way to get the clothes for free is to complete the quest The Ornate Box for Sven. You’ll first need to first save him from the cops, then get him the Ornate Box from the market stall. Now, Sven can be found at the fountain three times. Each time you’ll have to pass one day each and he’ll have new things to say, giving you an item each time you talk to him. After the third conversation, he will give you a Ferrystone and the Courtly Clothes.

Note

While researching, I saw that apparently not everyone gets the clothes as a reward for the quest. It is unclear what determines if you will only get the Ferrystone or also the clothes. I assume you will have to activate the two quests that require the clothes first before completing Sven’s quest to get the clothes from him, but that’s only one theory.

The probably easiest way to get the clothes is to just take them. If you go to the Noble Quarters, you can find the set in several places. This includes the Allard Estate, the Comptrollers House and Vernworth Hall itself, where the masquerade ball takes place during The Stolen Throne. Just go in and take it to get the Courtly Clothes for free!
