15 Video Games With Amazing Features Most Players Never Found

1-15

Secrets worth discovering.

Driver San Francisco

15. Driver: San Francisco (2011)

Tanner can jump straight into any car on the road in Driver: San Francisco, a mechanic called Shift that the story explains as a coma dream. Ubuntu Reflections built the entire city as one continuous map, no loading screens between missions. There's a radio station called Emoosik that plays cow sound effects layered over classic rock if you tune in long enough. Almost nobody sticks around to find that joke. | © Ubisoft
The Saboteur

14. The Saboteur (2007)

Occupied Paris in The Saboteur is rendered in black and white, and color literally floods back into the streets as you complete sabotage missions. Pandemic Studios tied the mechanic directly to Nazi presence, so liberated districts turn vivid while occupied ones stay drained. The game shipped in 2007 and got largely buried by the Assassin's Creed launch that same year. Its visual gimmick still holds up better than most of what came out that season. | © Electronic Arts
Prey

13. Prey (2017)

Morgan Yu can drink an entire cup of coffee in Prey, animation and all, for no mechanical reason whatsoever. Arkane Studios hid a working recreation of Groundhog Day as a mission, complete with a character reliving the same short loop. There's also a Mimic disguised as a fully functional in-game Talos I gift shop novelty. The 2017 release rewards the kind of player who checks every drawer twice. | © Bethesda Softworks
Alien Isolation

12. Alien: Isolation (2014)

Ripley's motion tracker in Alien: Isolation was modeled directly off the prop from the 1979 film, down to the beeping cadence. Creative Assembly built the Alien's AI on two separate systems, one that knows where you are and one that only guesses. That second system is the one actually hunting you, which is why hiding sometimes fails for no visible reason. The game shipped in 2014 and the creature never once follows a script. | © Sega
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor

11. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (2014)

Talion's freerunning in Shadow of Mordor borrows its climbing logic almost wholesale from the Assassin's Creed games, but the Nemesis System underneath is the part nobody expected. Monolith Productions gave every orc captain a name, a rank, and a memory of fights they'd survived against you. Get beaten by one and he'll show up later with a scar and a story about it. The 2014 game turned throwaway enemies into the only characters players actually remembered. | © Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Mad Max Game 2015

10. Mad Max (2015)

Getting Max's car to top tier in Mad Max takes hours of scrap hunting most players never finish. The Magnum Opus can be upgraded across five separate categories, from armor to a harpoon winch. Avalanche Studios built the entire Wasteland around that one vehicle rather than the man driving it. Barely anyone unlocks every paint job before the credits roll. | © Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Sleeping Dogs

9. Sleeping Dogs (2012)

A jukebox in Wei Shen's apartment plays actual Cantopop and Hong Kong radio hits recorded for the game. Sleeping Dogs shipped in 2012 with a full karaoke minigame buried in its Kennedy Town district. Square Enix let players sing Jacky Cheung's "Kiss Goodbye" note for note through an onscreen prompt. Most people run past the bar without ever stepping inside. | © Square Enix
Dishonored

8. Dishonored (2012)

Corvo Attano never has to kill a single named target in Dishonored. Arkane Studios built entire nonlethal takedowns and endings for every assassination mission in the 2012 release. Emily's final personality and the city's fate shift based on a chaos meter tracking every death, not just the big ones. Rats eating a corpse quietly still counts against you. | © Bethesda Softworks
Hitman Blood Money

7. Hitman: Blood Money (2006)

Agent 47's notoriety in Hitman: Blood Money follows him between missions if witnesses live to describe him. IO Interactive built a newspaper system in the 2006 game that rewrites headlines based on how sloppy each hit was. A clean kill with no body found barely makes the back page. A botched job with a stolen disguise lands 47's sketch on the front cover. | © 2K Games
Cropped New Vegas Fallout New Vegas

6. Fallout: New Vegas (2010)

Doc Mitchell's house in Fallout: New Vegas hides a full personality test disguised as a vision test. Obsidian Entertainment used it to quietly assign the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats players think they chose themselves. The 2010 game also lets you skip the entire opening by simply walking out the door unprompted. Josh Sawyer's team built Goodsprings so it never forces the tutorial on anyone. | © Bethesda Softworks
Bully

5. Bully (2006)

Jimmy Hopkins can sit down in any classroom at Bullworth Academy and actually pass the lesson. Chemistry class gives a real recipe for stink bombs if you answer the pop quiz right. Rockstar built five full subjects with unique animations most players skip after detention once. 2006 was the game's original release year, and the 2008 rerelease added even more of the campus nobody explores twice. | © Rockstar Games
Kingdom Come

4. Kingdom Come: Deliverance (2018)

Warhorse Studios gave every NPC in Kingdom Come: Deliverance a real daily schedule tied to the in game clock. Henry can watch a blacksmith open shop at dawn and close it at dusk without a scripted trigger. The 2018 release also lets grime and blood stay on Henry's face until he actually washes in a basin or river. Skipping baths for days changes how townsfolk react to him. | © Deep Silver
Red Dead Redemption 2

3. Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)

Arthur Morgan's beard keeps growing whether the camera is on him or not, tracked by a real timer inside Rockstar's engine. Leave him alone for a week of playtime and it grows shaggy enough that barbers comment on it. The 2018 release also lets his weight shift with diet, thinning him out if meals get skipped. Horses remember mistreatment too, spooking at riders who whip them too often. | © Rockstar Games
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

2. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)

Nintendo hid a fully functional musical instrument inside Kass the accordion playing Rito, whose songs actually shift key depending on region. Link can also cook a dish called Dubious Food, made from ingredients that don't belong together. Eating it does something random every single time, sometimes healing, sometimes poisoning. The 2017 release never explains the recipe on purpose. | © Nintendo
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater

1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)

Naked Snake can survive a scorpion sting in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater just by eating the scorpion that stung him. Konami built an entire camouflage system around real jungle patterns, letting Snake's face paint drop his visibility to zero percent. The 2004 release also tracks stamina tied to actual food digestion, so overeating slows him down. The Cure boss fight only works if players remembered to treat his wounds earlier. | © Konami
