Top 5 LoL Pro Players in 2020

1-5

These five players were just out of this world

Boyan Penev Boyan Penev
League of Legends - January 10th 2021, 17:05 GMT+1
Knight0601

5. Zhuo “Knight” Ding

The Top Esports mid laner was a big part of his team’s success for the year. Despite fumbling in the World Championship playoffs, the team came agonizingly close to winning the Spring Split before hoisting the LPL cup in the summer.

Much of that was created by Knight – a master of both laning mechanics and map movement. It is a testament to his dominance in China that a contested series against Fnatic and a semifinal spot at Worlds was Top's biggest disappointment of the year. (Image credit: Riot Games)

Nuguri0601

4. Jang "Nuguri" Ha-gwon

DAMWON Gaming were the best team in the LCK in the summer by far and capped it off with a decisive Worlds victory, bringing the Summoner’s Cup back to Korea for the first time since 2017.

Nuguri was their wild card in the top lane – an aggressive player who loved to push his limits but time after time, he came on top. Despite a medical issue shortly before that, he went to Worlds with his team and put up many great performances – which is why he is the first DAMWON player on this list. (Image credit: Riot Games)

Caps0601

3. Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther

After dipping his toe in the ADC pool in the spring to give himself another challenge, Caps came to his old hunting grounds – the mid lane – in the summer. When G2 Esports had a hard time during the regular split, he carried his team hard game after game and was instrumental in securing them a good playoff spot and yet another LEC title.

G2 had a good Worlds run before falling to eventual champions DAMWON in the semifinal, but through it all, Caps was instrumental in getting them there. Meanwhile, his dismantling of DRX in the quarterfinals was a tour de force that any player should be proud of. (Image credit: Riot Games)

Sof M0601 2

2. Lê "SofM" Quang Duy

The VCS teams were not able to attend Worlds but SofM defended the honor of his home region and then some. In the LPL, the Suning jungler made a name for himself as an aggressive player, eager to put the team on his back and demolish the enemy.

He was a player to watch even before Worlds started but it was there that he truly shone. SofM led Suning into one victory after another until the third LPL seed stood at the grand finals. There, it took the best player of the year to put an end to his rampage. (Image credit: Riot Games)

Canyon0601

1. Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu

This was the year of DAMWON and there are no two ways about it. Yet, even on DWG’s star-studded roster, Canyon went above and beyond. In a jungle-focused meta, he outperformed the competition in the LCK and at Worlds to sometimes ludicrous degree, styling on his opponents on both his signature carries and on the bruisers the team sometimes needed.

Canyon might not be perfect, but this year, he was about as close as it gets. (Image credit: Riot Games)
