It’s the third trophy of the year for G2 Esports, as they are crowned champions of the BLAST Premier World Finals. They completely outclassed Team Spirit in the grand final en route to a dominant 3-0 victory in Singapore.

After a grand final that turned out to be a completely one-sided affair, G2 have deservedly been crowned winners of the final BLAST event of the year.
G2 dominate Spirit 3-0 to win the BLAST Premier World Final!
G2 were heavily favored, coming into the grand final. They were 8-1 versus Spirit so far this year, with the only loss coming in a matchup, where G2 were without Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov.
What makes G2’s victory even more impressive, is that it comes off the back of a shocking last place elimination at IEM Rio a few weeks ago.
The semi-finals in Singapore were close calls, as both Spirit, and G2, had to go through deciding maps. Spirit got the better of Astralis, whilst G2 took down Vitality.
The grand final kicked off on G2’s first pick of Mirage. As per usual, they had a bit of a slow start on their T-side, closing said half with a 5-7 deficit.

The CT-side, however, was no issue, as G2 did not lose a single round there, taking Mirage 13-7.
Despite having the least amount of kills on the server, G2 in game leader Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelksi clutched the final round:

The real shocker of the series then followed on Anubis. This was picked by Spirit, with G2 this time winning their T-side 7-5.

They then also won the CT side flawlessly, yet again, closing the map out 13-5!
After 2 maps, Spirit were yet to win a single T-round.
Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov’s troops just could not fire back well enough throughout the series. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, many people's favorite to win the HLTV number 1 player of the year award, was also struggling to find his usual impact.
As on Dust 2, which turned out to be the final map of this grand final, G2 were once again running away. This time even winning 8 T-rounds.
The MVP of the tournament, m0NESY, delivered some insane AWPing on the final map:

Despite Spirit finally winning some rounds on their T-side, G2 were comfortably closing out the series with a 13-7 victory.
Team Spirit only managed a total of 19 rounds across all 3 maps.

G2 will hope to continue with this great form into their Major run, starting with the Europe RMR in just over two weeks’ time.
It is set to be their last dance with the current roster, as NiKo is set to leave the squad for a move over to Team Falcons at the end of the year.

What do you think? Can this G2 squad, at last, win their first Major?
