Andrew Garfield Reportedly Signed With Marvel for Spider-Man Return, But There's a Catch

Andrew Garfield is once again at the center of Spider-Man rumors.

According to a viral post circulating online this week, Andrew Garfield has allegedly agreed to a multi-picture deal with Marvel that could see him return as his version of Spider-Man.

The rumor has generated a flurry of excitement among fans, particularly following the actor's widely praised return in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

However, there is an important catch: the news is satire and, unfortunately, fake. The claim originated from the X account Chaos Crave, which describes itself as "Parody" and a "Satirical News Account".

There has been no official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Garfield that the actor has signed a new Spider-Man contract.

Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man Could Still Return To The MCU

While the latest rumor is false, the idea of Garfield returning as Spider-Man isn't completely out of the question.

Garfield first portrayed Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, then returned for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. Following the cancellation of that franchise, he unexpectedly reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home, appearing alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.

The actor had previously described, in an interview with Esquire, his experience making No Way Home as joyful and one that was "really healing" for him.

He has also confirmed in a separate interview that he remains open to playing Spider-Man again under the right circumstances. Garfield stated, "I think what it would take is a great idea, a great concept. Something that is surprising and odd and fun, joyful. It has to be worthwhile."

Marvel Will Continue With Tom Holland As Spider-Man

For now, Marvel's live-action Spider-Man remains centered on Tom Holland, whose fourth film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, premiered on July 31. It recently surpassed $2 billion in global ticket sales, making it one of the most successful films of all time.

The movie takes a more grounded approach after the multiverse-heavy events of No Way Home, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explaining that the team wanted to take the character in a deeper direction rather than simply trying to make the next film bigger.

Marvel is also preparing for the release of Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for December 18, 2026. Unfortunately, the blockbuster will not feature Andrew Garfield. “No. Unequivocally no,” was his response during an interview with GQ when asked if he would return for the latest Avengers film.
