Asmongold Explains Ban & Talks About “Double Standard”
Following the suspension, Asmongold specifically explained which statement he believes led to the ban. He suspects that a comment made during his livestream was the trigger, in which he said that he did not care about the opinions of “illiterate people from the third world.” According to him, this exact remark resulted in the one-week suspension – although Twitch has not officially confirmed this.
Shortly after the ban, Asmongold took to X (formerly Twitter) to strongly criticize the decision. He argued that, in his view, his statements did not violate Twitch’s rules. He was particularly upset about the length of the suspension and what he sees as inconsistent enforcement by the platform. In his statements, he referred to an “obvious double standard” and questioned why similar remarks in different contexts would allegedly not be punished.
The suspension is temporary and set to last one week, meaning the account could be reinstated by mid-April. During this time, the profile remains visible, including past streams. This is not unusual, as Twitch often reviews or removes content after the fact.

A look at the platform’s terms of service shows that content considered offensive, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate may fall under the category of “prohibited conduct.” This is likely the core issue in the current case. Even though Twitch has not provided specific details, many reactions suggest that the statements were considered a violation.
For Asmongold, this is not the first incident of this kind. He has previously been suspended for controversial remarks. At the time, political and social comments in particular sparked criticism and led to penalties. However, the streamer himself also showed little remorse in those cases, even describing one previous ban as one of the “best times” of his life.
This time, he is sticking to the same position. In a YouTube video, he reiterated that he believes he did nothing wrong. At the same time, he confirmed that he has already filed an appeal against the suspension. He also criticized the fact that there were no warning steps or shorter penalties before the week-long ban was issued.
