Kristen Stewart returns to the world of vampires – but this time, it’s worlds away from Twilight’s glittering romance (though some might argue Twilight had its own kind of horror). This new chapter is darker, edgier, and soaked in '80s attitude.

A Vision "Between Fantasy and Nightmare"

In Flesh of the Gods, a new horror thriller from director Panos Cosmatos (Mandy), Stewart and Oscar Isaac play a married couple drawn into a dangerous world of hedonism, mystery, and vampiric allure.

The film, written by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en), is set in Los Angeles during the 1980s and follows the characters Raoul and Alex as they fall under the spell of a charismatic and seductive figure known only as The Nameless — played by Elizabeth Olsen.

Drawn into her hard-partying clique, they tumble into a nightmare full of bloodlust and punk rock.

“Like Los Angeles itself, Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare,"

Cosmatos said in a statement.

He describes his vision as follows, promising a visceral experience:

“Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell.”

A Cast Built For Complexity

Although best known for Twilight, Stewart has long since proven her range in emotionally intense and psychologically layered roles. With critically acclaimed performances in Clouds of Sils Maria, Seberg, and her Oscar-nominated turn in Spencer, she has developed a reputation for portraying complex women torn between fragility and rebellion. Her androgynous charisma and edgy presence make her a natural choice for a film steeped in moody sensuality, and vintage rock decadence.

Oscar Isaac, meanwhile, brings a powerful screen presence shaped by roles in films like Ex Machina and Annihilation. He is known for navigating characters with inner conflict and existential weight.

We're sure Olsen, whose recent performances in WandaVision and Love & Death show her versatility and magnetic screen presence, will embody her character with just the right amount of allure und ominous essence that the roles needs.

High Ambitions, Cult Potential

Producer Adam McKay vividly expressed his excitement about the project:

“This director, this writer, these incredible actors, vampires, choice ’80s punk, style and attitude for miles… that’s the film we’re bringing you today. We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music and film. Can you tell how excited I am?”

Although no release date has been announced, the project is already building serious anticipation.

For fans of films like Only Lovers Left Alive, where music, glamorous rock fashion, and nocturnal party scenes are as vital as the plot itself, this could be the next cult hit on the horizon.

Ultimately, it seems like Flesh of the Gods isn't just about vampires, but rather about the desire and seductive pull of dangers of the night.
