Even between an Englishman and an American, language can be lost in translation.
In a recent stream, KSI joined JasonTheWeen in a Maybach for an on-the-road livestream. They had plenty to talk about, until one word in particular caused a brief misunderstanding.
One Word That Almost Stopped The Car
JasonTheWeen came to London to interview no one less than KSI himself. The two had a chat about all kinds of things until Jason called himself a “nonce”. When he did, KSI reacted with an irritated look on his face and said:
“Wait, what? Driver, stop this car real quick.”
Jason was visibly confused. He thought the word meant something entirely different from its actual meaning in UK slang:
“I thought it means like fool.”
At this point, KSI understood that he had to clear some things up. He explained that in UK slang, “nonce” is actually a very serious term and refers to a pedophile or any kind of child sex offender.
It is safe to assume that Jason probably won’t be using this term again in the future. This situation also proves that even between two English-speaking individuals, a language barrier can exist.
Beyond The Viral Moment
As teased earlier, the awkward moment wasn’t even close to being the highlight of their stream. Over the course of the car ride, KSI and Jason compared their music, grabbed food from KFC, and talked about the rise and continued success of the Sidemen. At one point, KSI even shared what he considers the group’s biggest secret to success. According to him, it comes down to one simple thing: everyone in the Sidemen is treated equally.
Towards the end of the stream, the conversation took a more playful turn when KSI was asked to create a tier list ranking content creators based on how difficult a boxing matchup against them would be. Unsurprisingly, the most crowded tier was the one reserved for opponents he believed would be easy work. In KSI’s eyes, creators like IShowSpeed, Bradley Martyn, Andrew Tate, and even his younger brother Deji didn’t pose much of a threat.
In the end, the segment was clearly meant to be taken lightly. Still, if we’re being honest, I’d absolutely pay good money to see KSI kick Andrew Tate’s ass.
