Doomsday draws closer, and the God of Thunder (and of Love) responds.
Marvel’s marketing machine surrounding Avengers: Doomsday is in full swing. After the studio was forced to abruptly scrap its next major finale after Endgame, "The Kang Dynasty," because Kang actor Jonathan Majors physically assaulted a woman, they established Victor von Doom as the new ultimate super-villain of the MCU.
The first bombshell came with the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. – whose Tony Stark had been the centerpiece of the MCU until his heroic death in Endgame – would be playing Doom.
Steve Rogers Is Back...
Recently, we learned through a teaser trailer that Chris Evans will return as Captain America for Doomsday, set to be released on December 18, 2026. A new trailer now also reveals whether – and how – the God of Thunder, Thor Odinson, will support Steve Rogers in his fight.
We last saw Thor embracing his newly found role as a father at the end of Thor: Love & Thunder, traveling through the universe with his adopted daughter Love – and it is precisely this relationship that now appears to form the core of the hero’s story arc.
... And Thor As Well!
In the trailer, Thor – played by Chris Hemsworth – speaks of having devoted his life to battle and war, until he was given a new reason to live in the form of his daughter. Now, the task is to defeat one last, final enemy so that he can finally return to her once and for all
That this enemy is Doom seems obvious. Exactly how the battle will unfold, in which of the many realities of the multiverse it will take place, and whether Love will also play a combat role are questions we will likely have answered on December 18 of this year
What do you think of the new trailer? And how do you think Marvel’s Doomsday will turn out? Let us know in the comments!
