Overwatch gets a mobile game?!
Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled Overwatch Rush, a mobile spin-off of its hit hero shooter, and xQc already has a concern.
xQc Reacts as Blizzard Reveals Overwatch Rush
Overwatch recently celebrated a surprising comeback with its latest update. Apparently, Blizzard now wants to ride that momentum, as the studio has announced Overwatch Rush. The mobile title is designed to mirror classic Overwatch gameplay, just from a top-down perspective on mobile devices. However, Blizzard also clarified that the game is still in an early stage of development.
Nonetheless, fans and creators alike reacted in a polarized way to the announcement. Among them was, of course, former Overwatch pro xQc. Although his initial reaction was mostly positive, one major concern continues to bother him. During his stream on February 24, he said:
“Chat, this actually looks kind of decent, though. Chat, I don’t think this looks bad."
His main issue is the game’s replayability:
“This looks fun, but I just don’t know how long it will last for, you know what I mean? Like, I don’t know how replayable it is. It doesn’t look bad to play for a few games, but I don’t know if it’s very replayable. You know what I mean?”
Overwatch Rush Divides the Community
However, as previously teased, the community also had plenty to say about the announcement. While some people reacted positively to the reveal, others were far more critical of Blizzard’s new project:
"Brawl Stars? Honestly looks better than I thought. I don't know how the aerial heroes are gonna work with no jump though."
"Quite interesting that mobile hardware is better than ever, yet I can't feel anything but apathy towards any mobile game because I fully expect it to devolve into a microtransaction hellscape sooner or later."
As a result, opinions on the latest title in the Overwatch universe are divided. Some players seem more than willing to give it a shot, while others are already worried about another wave of aggressive monetization.
Still, Blizzard has emphasized that the game is in an early stage of development, meaning more details and gameplay updates are likely to follow. Until then, the regular Overwatch grind continues.
