For years now, PewDiePie has left gaming content behind in favor of different content like showing his and his family's life via vlogs. In these, the little family of Felix, Marzia, their son Björn and their pugs show their daily adventures. Now, PewDiePie announced that these beloved videos will end soon.

PewDiePie "Ending The Vlogs"

In his most recent video, uploaded May 23, PewDiePie sits down with his camera to share some news. The video titled "Ending the vlogs." starts with a bicycle tour and him out and about with his son Björn and his wife Marzia. Towards the end, Felix sits down with his camera to share the news.

He explains that him and Marzia decided to stop uploading their regular vlogs in September. He says they started over four years ago with the intent to document their moving to, adapting to and living in Japan. They had originally planned to only vlog for a shorter time but the "outpouring love and support" had made them want to continue. They simply thought it was fun to share everything.

Now, however, Felix says Björn is soon becoming 3 years old and they feel it is time to stop making him part of PewDiePie's content, as he is "too much part" of it already.

Now he’s 3 years old and we feel like it’s a good time to end the vlogs. If he wants to be part of it, that should be his choice later.

He clarifies that they will still occasionally upload photos or clips of their son online but they do not want the amount of pressure on his online appearance that is generated through the vlogs.

PewDiePie thanks his viewers for supporting them saying they made the experience of moving to a new country feel less isolating.

I want to thank you, this is just a heads up, so thank you.

The comments under his video are supportive of the descision and mostly praise the YouTuber for his parenting.

Björn deserves a normal childhood. I’m so happy for you and your family.

One commenter writes with another agreeing:

Ending the vlogs to protect Björn’s privacy and choice is the most PewDiePie thing ever. A legendary YouTuber and an even better father. Respect.

And while some celebrate this ending as a good example and hoping other family vloggers will follow it, others ciriticise him for putting Björn on the internet in the first place. Users on X write:

Parents who use their child for views needs to be shamed out of the internet.

or

Tbh should have done that from the get go never understood why they didn't kept their son anonymous first, do they think Bjorn is a common name in Japanese? He'll be recognized pretty fast in my opinion, but I hope the best for them.

PewDiePie’s decision marks the end of an era not just for his channel, but also for a style of content that allowed millions of viewers to follow his family life in Japan almost in real time. The controversial discussion around children appearing online will likely continue, but many fans see this choice as a sign of Felix growing beyond internet culture’s constant demand for access, choosing his son’s privacy over endless content, even if it means stepping away from one of the most beloved chapters of his career.
