"You Pay $80, You Get Nothing": xQc Claims GTA 6 Should Be an $800 Game

Does xQc have a point, or is he completely out of touch?

In recent stream, xQc shared a polarizing take concerning the release of GTA 6. In his opinion the game would be appropriately priced at $800. Sure.

xQc Argues GTA 6 Offers Far More Value Than Modern Games

xQc is one of those streamers that are always good for a hot take, and his latest one is especially polarizing. In his opinion, a price of $800 for the upcoming GTA 6 would be appropriate. While this sounds outrageous to anyone with a normal income, his argumentation does actually make sense (as long as you can understand what he is saying):

"If you were to give a product by standardization of the market currently with all games considered, all games of the current year, right? What you get for what you pay for, right? GTA should cost $800."

He further elaborated that he is aware that won't be the case and that it also shouldn't. According to him, this price is the consequence of the prices of other games. In his opinion, these games only offer a fraction of the value that GTA VI will provide:

"It's a fact because these days you pay 60 bucks, 80 bucks, you get [...] nothing."

He says that GTA 6 will provide "20x" the amount of what other games offer. As an example, he points to Resident Evil Requiem. The game costs nearly 100 Canadian Dollars on Steam. According to him, the game lasts for about 11 hours and is not very replayable, yet it costs that much. In relation to that, he believes GTA 6 will have an average playtime of 100 hours at the bare minimum. He even mentions that he could imagine it going even higher. Therefore, he believes this pricing would be reasonable.

Fans Split Over xQc’s $800 GTA 6 Take

Fans reacted very differently to this take. While some understand or even agree with xQc, others suggest that his enormous amount of money has made him lose touch:

"Why do people keep talking about money with xQc, that guy has been out of touch for years now with the amount he has, he could buy a $1000 can of soda and he wouldn't even notice he paid that much."
"I get his point tbh. He's just exaggerating the price a bit. A lot of subpar and lackluster games are being sold for $50-$60 which you barely play for 100-200 hours. I'd happily pay $100 for GTA 6, which is almost guaranteed to have a good story and even better multiplayer options."

So while fans are arguing about whether this take is reasonable or not, the question of how much GTA 6 will actually cost remains. Many voices in the industry suggest that GTA 6 could be the first major release where the standard edition costs $100, but a price eight times higher than that still seems very unrealistic, luckily. Even though his take makes sense in some way, it is important for gamers that gaming does not become a luxury and stays affordable for the average player. Otherwise, you might as well take out a mortgage for GTA 7.
