Baldur's Gate 3 deserves to be Game of the Year again in 2024... Not just because it is a masterpiece, but it also shows in the numbers – the game has an even bigger hype this year than it had directly after its release.

When Baldur’s Gate 3 launched in 2023, it was already a massive hit, but here’s the wild part—it’s doing even better in 2024. Daily active players have shot up by 20%, proving that this RPG juggernaut has insane staying power.
Baldur's Gate 3 even more popular in 2024
Michael Douse, Larian's director of publishing recently shared some insides on X (formally known as Twitter) that show the massive increase of their numbers in 2024.
If u zoom out on our sales chart it looks like the heartbeat of a happy little guy

It seems that the average number of daily active users has shot up by 20% over the last year, which is insane considering that the hype has been steady for over a year.
So, how did that happen? Two words: mod support. Larian Studios finally added official tools for modders in September 2024, and the community has gone all in. From new campaigns to quirky character mods, players are getting fresh experiences that keep them coming back for more.
On top of that, Larian hasn’t stopped supporting the game. Regular updates, fan interaction, and hints of future content have kept the hype alive. Larian Studios even got nominated for the "Best Community Support" category in the 2024 Game Awards! Add in its ridiculously high replay value, and it’s no wonder people are still obsessed with exploring Faerûn.
But one thing that definitely wasn't on our Bingo card this year is the sales numbers in Vatican City... In a comment under the post, Douse revealed that another copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 was purchased in Vatican City. He mentioned that two people from the Vatican already own the game. However, another "servant of God" still seems to have it on their wishlist.
"I am also happy to announce we have achieved 1 (one) more sale in The Holy See, the Vatican itself. Thank you Mr Pope and enjoy the game."
Great times for Larian Studios! And let's hope they win their Game Awards nomination! And what do you think – do people in Vatican City play as a Cleric or do they go all in with a Dark Urge run...?
