With Project: Frontiers, Bungie presented the future of Destiny 2, but players are skeptic.

Future Roadmap Revealed

In the future, Bungie wants to release two "medium-sized" expansions per year instead of one big one. According to the studio, it should free them from the repetitive structure of the DLC that they had since Shadowkeep (2019).

They were also throwing around buzz words like "roguelikes", "survival shooters" and "Metroidvanias" but did not get explicit about what gameplay changes will be to go alongside the new release structure.

While on many levels it's great to see them focused on the future of the game like this, there are still many unanswered questions. Notably, the price; the latest expansions cost $49.99. How much will the medium-sized expansions cost? Spending $100 or even $80 per year seems crazy.

More Expansions, More Seasons

Of course, they have to bring up more seasons. Instead of three seasons per year, they want to bring up four. The major updates will be free for every player, but they will probably have a season pass that will cost.

Many fans are still curious to see how the monetization model will play out, because especially for newcomers, the monetization of Destiny 2 with its expansions and seasons, plus all the old expansions you have to buy to play their story, can be shocking.

Let's face it. It won't get cheaper.
