Elon Musk Calls the New Assassin's Creed a "Terrible Game" – Gets Roasted Afterwards

Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X and CEO of Tesla, found himself at the center of a social media firestorm after criticizing Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

What started as a feud between Musk and popular Twitch streamer Hasan Piker quickly escalated when the official Assassin’s Creed X account joined in, roasting Musk with a jab at his own gaming credibility.

A Feud Over Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The controversy kicked off when former game developer Grummz took to X on March 25 to criticize Ubisoft for sponsoring Hasan to promote Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Bluesky. Grummz took issue with the partnership, accusing Ubisoft of giving money to a streamer he labeled as “terrorist-platforming.” This was in reference to an interview Hasan conducted with a Houthi sympathizer earlier this year

Elon Musk quickly entered the conversation, responding to Grummz’s post with a blunt statement about the streamer:

Minutes later, he followed up:

Hasan, never one to back down from a fight, fired back almost immediately. The streamer called Musk’s own gaming integrity into question, referencing a past controversy where Musk admitted to having someone power-level his Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 accounts. He didn’t stop there. Hasan went on to challenge Musk to a one-on-one fight in Elden Ring, promising to… beat him:

Streamer Asmongold even offered to organize the duel, insisting that both players stream their gameplay to ensure Musk was actually the one holding the controller.

Assassin’s Creed’s Official Account Joins the Roast

As if getting challenged to a duel wasn’t enough, Musk soon found himself on the receiving end of another roast – this time from Ubisoft themselves.

After Musk dismissed Assassin’s Creed Shadows as a “terrible game,” the official Assassin’s Creed X account fired back with a brutal clap back:

The response quickly went viral, with thousands of users celebrating Ubisoft’s witty comeback. Some even joked that the reply was so good it convinced them to buy the game

Will Musk Respond?

So far, Musk has not responded to the Assassin’s Creed team, but given his history of feuding with streamers and critics alike, it wouldn’t be surprising if he eventually addressed the controversy

Meanwhile, speculation is swirling that Musk may try to compete with Ubisoft by launching his own game company – though given how this latest gaming battle went, it might not be an easy road ahead.
