What happened here?! Who would have thought that we would experience such drama on the first day?

It's an "a**whooping of biblical proportions" – but no one could have expected how incredible this first day of the Swiss stage would be.

What just happened here? LTA's third seed has completely destroyed one of the favorites for the World Champion title! In League of Legends, the American dream is alive and well. Now that I've recovered from hyperventilating, I can give you a brief summary of the game.
The game started as you'd expect, with Elk and ON having a 100% win rate in the LPL with Caitlyn and Elise. There were a few fights in the river, and you'd think BLG was giving us the game we expected. Already in the third minute, ON and Beichuan aggressively stormed into River's jungle, forcing him to retreat with barely any HP left.
In the 7th minute, a fight breaks out over the first dragon, killing both Beichuan and ON, but River's death prevents the objective from being achieved. If you look at the top lane at the same time, you get an idea of how this game is really going to play out: Bin attempts the riskiest tower dive on Dhokla and dies in the process. And unfortunately, it wasn't even close... Shortly after, the Voidgrubs go to 100 Thieves, with the gold still relatively even.

In the next battle for the Mountain Dragon, Eyla is taken out and the objective goes to BLG.
Shortly afterwards, however, they suffer a mental setback in the middle, as FBI survives with exactly 6 HP after a flash engage from ON. Ouch... This is immediately followed by a Cloud Drake for 100 Thieves, which BLG counters with a Herald and the mid turret.
Atakhan is there, and of course, no one wants to miss out on that. After much hesitation, BLG begins the objective and pulls him out of his nest. Confidence looks different. This becomes apparent shortly thereafter, as 100 Thieves don't take it lying down and force BLG to abandon the fight. BLG manages to push the opposing team back a little, but their attack on the Hextech Drake seals their fate. River teleports behind the dragon with the Hexgates, and in the ensuing fight, Dhokla holds back 3 players on his own with Sion's ultimate.

River storms towards the dragon, snatches it, Beichuan is surrounded and bursts. Bin is also trapped, but manages to grab Eyla and tries to escape. However, Dhokla, who is still holding off three opponents like a machine, manages to close the circle to his team and 100 Thieves destroys BLG! Atakhan is taken out immediately, but Beichuan believes he still has a chance here, which leads to the next fight breaking out. Bin teleports into the middle of the opponents and is immediately wiped out. Knight doesn't survive this fight either, and — from the sound of it — the casters only just make it.
Pretty much no one understands the fights that follow. Half of BLG is outplayed by Quid's Aurora, and FBI's Ziggs also encounters little resistance. Then there's a logical Baron take for 100 Thieves for free. All lanes are under siege, and every subsequent fight brings in a lot of money, especially for Quid and FBI. Last but not least, we get to marvel at Dhokla as he beats up Knight, the mid laner of the champion favorites, under the enemy tower. Just brutal.

This game was perhaps one of the biggest surprises we've ever seen at Worlds!
