Hyper Light Breaker might be the best new game to play with your friends.
Hyper Light Breaker is the prequel to Hyper Light Drifter, a topdown action-RPG that was released in 2016.
Despite changing almost everything, ranging from turning the game into a 3D experience to making it fully open-world, it still stays true to its predecessor in essence.
What is Hyper Light Breaker about?
In Hyper Light Breaker, you are part of a group called the "Breakers", who were previously warriors or explorers before a massive war destroyed civilization as we know it.
Now, they need to find out the truth of this post-apocalyptic world and save it using their skills in combat and survival.
The game focuses on the exploration aspect, giving players procedurally generated worlds with ever-changing biomes, winded labyrinths, and abandoned buildings to check out.
But, of course, nothing comes without its risks. Hyper Light Breaker comes with a large array of enemies and bosses that players need to cautiously approach, so as not to get killed within seconds.
You traverse these landscapes and claim victory over mighty foes, and in turn you will find many rewards.
Be it weapons, upgrades, or other items to improve your character build and allow your village to thrive.
The end goal is simple on paper, but difficult to pull through: defeat the Crowns that are scattered all over the map and learn the truth of the world through their fragmented memories.
This 3D open-world co-op roguelite already has a release date for its Early Access on Steam, being January 14, 2025.
