Haunted: A Paranormal Story Setting
This anime-style game will delight horror fans: In Itachi: Haunted Abodes, we travel to Tokyo in the early 2000s and accompany Itachi, a homeless student who accepts a strange part-time job in a haunted house. His new abode has a dark past... and an extremely annoying roommate named Tanuki, who soon turns out to be an ally.
At first, the job sounds tempting, as Itachi finally has a roof over his head. All he has to do is live in one of the house's apartments for a week. All his expenses are covered and the salary is above average.
It is only as the story unfolds that Itachi learns more about the house he lives in. The previous tenant died mysteriously at an early age, and it is up to Itachi to gather clues about what happened and uncover the truth. What he doesn't know at first is that he himself has been hired as a lure for the so-called land gods. Now he must banish them in order to save himself and make the house safe again.
A Change Of Perspective
A special feature of the game is that you can switch back and forth between Itachi's and Tanuki's perspectives during your investigations.

While Itachi is just a normal human without any special supernatural abilities, Tanuki can actually see the land gods and pick up information about them. Itachi, on the other hand, excels at social interaction, which Tanuki cannot claim to do as well.
The player must find a balance between the two perspectives and choose between Itachi and Tanuki depending on the situation. Once enough information has been gathered, Tanuki can begin a ritual to drive away the land gods. However, if mistakes are made in the process, it is Itachi who has to suffer.
Discover Tokyo's Early 2000s
Instead of focusing solely on the haunted house, the developers have also created a vibrant environment around it.
Players can stroll through 2000s Tokyo and search for clues in a wide variety of subcultures. Clubs with live bands and maid cafés are just some of the scenes in which you can search for hidden secrets.
An exact release date has not yet been announced. However, from September 25 to September 28, 2025, you can try out a demo of the game at the room6 inc. booth at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and get a first glimpse of Itachi's paranormal experiences.
We can't wait to see the gameplay! What do you think? Let us know!
