With Little Nightmares 3, Bandai Namco is taking the beloved horror-adventure series in a bold new direction. For the first time, the game is fully centered around cooperative gameplay. Developed by Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn, the new installment was released on October 10, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.

Co-Op For The First Time – But Online Only

Unlike its predecessors, Little Nightmares 3 is designed entirely around two-player cooperation. Players take on the roles of Low and Alone, two children trapped in the nightmarish world known as The Spiral. They must rely on each other to survive, with each having unique abilities: Low wields a bow and arrow, while Alone uses a wrench to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.

However, the co-op mode is online only. There’s no local split-screen or couch co-op option. This means both players need their own device and an internet connection, even if they’re sitting side by side. Switching between solo and co-op mid-game isn’t possible either.

Play Together With The Friend’s Pass – No Need To Buy Twice

One of the most player-friendly features is the Friend’s Pass. Similar to It Takes Two, only one player needs to purchase the game. The owner can invite a friend to join for free, as long as both are playing on the same platform. Unfortunately, crossplay is not supported. PlayStation users can only team up with other PlayStation players, and the same goes for Xbox, PC, and Switch.

Nonverbal Communication

True to the series’ atmosphere, Little Nightmares 3 remains mostly wordless. Instead of a voice chat, players communicate through gestures, calls, and subtle visual cues between the characters. Those who want to coordinate more precisely can use external voice tools such as Discord.

System Requirements And Platforms

Little Nightmares 3 is available on all major platforms and runs smoothly even on older systems.

For PC, Bandai Namco recommends at least:

  • Windows 10/11 (64 Bit)
  • Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics Card: GTX 1050 / Radeon RX 560 (or better)
  • 10–15 GB available storage

The download size ranges from 8 to 12 GB, depending on the platform. An internet connection is required for online co-op and the Friend’s Pass, but not for solo play.

Price And Playtime

At launch, Little Nightmares 3 is priced at $39,99 for the standard digital edition. A Deluxe Edition with bonus content is also available.

The average playtime is around 4 to 5 hours, though this can vary between 3 and 6 hours depending on your playstyle. Completionists who want to collect every item or experience both modes may spend twice as long exploring The Spiral.

Solo Or Co-Op – Both Options Work

Those who prefer to play alone aren’t left out. In single-player mode, an AI companion takes over the role of the second character, assisting with puzzles and reacting to threats.

This ensures a smooth gameplay experience similar to co-op just with a bit less chaos and spontaneity.
