While we surely cannot trust all the "revealed" content, some of it seems quite trustworthy. According to an alleged Nintendo insider, the pressure for an official reveal has been building up at Nintendo, suggesting that they may announce the console earlier than expected, possibly even before January 16!

Nintendo Switch 2 leaks may force an early reveal

A tweet from insider SamusHunter2 hinted that Nintendo might reveal its next console ahead of schedule. According to the tweet, the announcement could happen before the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on January 16, 2025. SamusHunter2 claims this move aims to address the leaks and provide official information to the public. Additional announcements about upcoming games for the current Switch may follow at a later date.

Another leaker, known as MoistyCharlie, backed up this claim. Charlie was accurate with predictions like the PS5 Pro reveal, but then other predictions, such as the announcement of Nintendo Alarmo, were misunderstood... So, it might be best to take the following with a grain of salt.

The leaks so far

  • Pictures of Switch 2 accessories surfaced online, leaking the possible console’s design and features.
  • Two SKUs: A Q&A on Reddit confirmed that the Switch 2 will launch in two versions. This aligns with earlier reports.
  • Reveal Dates: Multiple sources suggest mid-January as the target for the official announcement. One user, u/nexthandheld, mentioned January 11 as a possible date.

Nintendo’s secrecy is a cornerstone of its marketing strategy. Leaks undermine this by taking control away from the company. If the leaks continue, it could spoil the excitement for fans and affect the launch’s impact. By moving up the announcement, Nintendo hopes to regain some of that control. Honestly, I don't mind an early reveal, I finally wanna see what this console can do!
