Following a successful remake of Silent Hill 2, the time has now come.

These are terrifyingly exciting times for horror enthusiasts: a whole (bloody) handful of scary games such as Directive 8020 and Silent Hill f have been announced for the near future, with one piece of news in particular surprising many gamers and filling them with anticipation.
Konami Pulls Out All The Stops
We recently reported on what the new Silent Hill f has to offer: Set in 1970s Japan, we follow Hinako Shimizu as she battles bloody monsters, but also herself. The game is scheduled for release on September 25, 2025, and is already being highly praised. But what about the fans who still love the original classics? Just recently, players worldwide were able to look enjoy the remake of Silent Hill 2.

The reboot of the fan favorite has been very well received, selling at least 2 million copies and receiving 95% positive reviews on Steam. The game is described as faithful to the source material and has successfully captured the atmosphere of the original, which was released in 2001. For many fans of the horror series, this naturally raises the question: What about the game that started it all? Don't worry, Konami has got it covered: They approached Bloober Team, who were responsible for the successful Silent Hill 2 remake, to revive the beginnings.

Silent Hill Remake Has Been Announced
It's been 26 years since Harry Mason drove to the remote town of Silent Hill with his daughter Cheryl. After a car accident, Cheryl suddenly disappeared. While searching for her, Harry encounters thick fog, nightmarish creatures, and strange figures. Gradually, it becomes clear that Cheryl is somehow connected to a dark cult and a girl named Alessa, and Harry sets out to get to the bottom of it all. If this brings back memories of playing on the PlayStation 1, you're in luck: Konami is teaming up with Bloober Team once again to develop a remake of the horror classic.

Although details such as a release date or supported platforms have not yet been announced, the mere announcement that the game is in development is enough to get horror enthusiasts excited. In a survey asking fans which game they would like to see improved next, over half voted for the first installment of the series.
This means that whether you want to see “100% Japanese horror” or are longing for an absolute classic, Konami strives to ensure that there is something for everyone. Together with an announced film adaptation, you can be sure that Silent Hill still serves as the benchmark for horror games today.
