Sonic Racing Crossworlds is due to be released soon: Funny characters, cool cars and unique gameplay elements await us in the Mario Kart rival!

SEGA has officially announced Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and the first leaks show the full extent of the bizarre kart racer. Here you can find out everything we know so far!
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds: More Than Just A Racing Game
It would be hard to believe that could ever be a possibility, but will Sonic Racing CrossWorlds be better than Mario Kart? And what if it's even more than just a racing game? Sonic Team announced that the game will also be a new Sonic title, a racing game and an action game all at the same time! With the help of portals, we can dive straight into new adventures and travel through worlds. Beautiful landscapes, evil monsters or tracks full of obstacles await us here. What's more, the routes themselves are supposed to change constantly and ensure that it's a new experience every time.

Full Control Over Your Machine!
In CrossWorlds, for the first time in the Sonic Racing series, you can choose your own vehicle instead of always being tied to one per character. But it gets even better: In addition to choosing a pre-built machine, we can simply build our own! Not only can we use individual parts designed to improve speed, handling and acceleration to create the kart that best suits our play style, we can also customize the look to really build our dream car! Both the chassis and the interior can be modified, decorated with different stickers and painted in all colors.
And that's not all: the game will include so-called "gadgets" that can be equipped via slots at the start of the game to make each race unique. The more you play, the more slots and gadgets you can unlock.

A Fan Favorite Makes A Comeback
You're not just riding on wheels on land – Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders is back! What fans could already see in the trailer has now been confirmed: You'll be gliding through the air on flying hoverboards. Sega is so proud of it that they won't even show them in the network test on Playstation 5 to keep the feature fresh for release. Takashi Iizuka, Creative Officer of Sonic Team comments:
We implemented both the Extreme Gear from the 'Sonic Riders' series and the transformation feature from the 'All-Stars Racing' series, making this title a culmination of all previous 'Sonic Racing' games. I hope everyone has a lot of fun with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

Together with the network playtest, which you can sign up for here, that's all the official information we have. But it's the leakers who reveal the full extent of the game's absurdity:
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds: Crossovers
What comes next sounds crazy – and should be taken with more than just a grain of salt. There are several leaks circulating on Reddit about possible guest characters that could appear in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. Some of these have already been refuted, while others are supported by gameplay videos and screenshots.
SpongeBob And Patrick
If you think that's the limit, you're wrong. We already have gameplay footage of the two and can also view the entire Bikini Bottom map. Through the glass door of the Krusty Krab, this looks like chaos of the finest kind.

Minecraft Steve & Alex
Yes, it sounds absurd, but screenshots have already been published on X showing Alex and Steve in Minecarts.

It's just so bizarre that I'm not sure I'm not in a parallel world myself. No gameplay footage was shown here, but concept art and a visual representation of the glider that we also know from the well-known animated series.

What do you think? Will you be picking up the game? Do you think it could beat Mario Kart?
