Fans are review-bombing God of War: Ragnarök on Steam, and the reason is a surprise to no one.

God of War: Ragnarök is the sequel to God of War (2018) and was initially released exclusively on the PlayStation. The game itself is a great sequel, with intense combat and a heart-wrenching story, which is why fans were begging for a PC port for ages.
Now that the game has been out on PC, the reviews don't reflect this feeling at all, in fact, the reviews are very bad.
The reason is Sony.
PlayStation Network Connection Required
The fans are furious because of a certain requirement installed by Sony to play God of War: Ragnarök on PC. You have to link a PlayStation Network account to play the game.
This is exactly what happened with Helldivers 2, earlier this year.
The reviews are all basically screaming the same thing:
This provides no benefit to the customer and only worsens the overall experience, adding unnecessary security risks on top of being an inconvenience to the user and not even allowing people in certain countries to have access to it.

The game has a six out of ten rating on Steam right now, which is crazy, when you know how good the game is. Though, it is quite understandable that players are upset about unnecessary restrictions when playing such a great game.
As always, we will have to wait and see, how Sony will respond to this backlash.
Update: Modders try to fix God of War Ragnarök's most hated feature – and win!
It didn't take long for modders to get on board with gamers and hit back at Sony. For those of you who don't have access to PlayStation Network, or simply don't want to create another useless account, you can download the NoPSSDK mod.
What this mod basically does is add an offline mode to the game by disabling the PSN overlay. So when the banner pops up saying you need to be connected, this mod allows you to choose no.
Of course, there's always the chance that the mod won't help, but over 1,800 downloads speaks for itself.
Did the mod work for you, or did you decide never to touch this version again?
