Three years ago, Sony launched the PlayStation Stars program - sadly, this will soon come to an end.

Sony recently announced the discontinuation of the PlayStation Stars program. Players can still collect points until July 23.
Farewell To PlayStation Stars
Following the abolition of Nintendo's loyalty program, which allowed you to get free merchandise, Sony is now following suit. The plug is soon to be pulled on PlayStation Stars, which was launched three years ago. According to Sony, the program is an opportunity to bring the community of gamers together and celebrate fans from all over the world.
Players could get their hands on unique rewards such as digital collector's items designed to "honor gamers and the PlayStation universe". Points could also be exchanged for games or vouchers. But this will soon come to an end: Sony will be ending the current PlayStation Stars program on 23 July.

A New Direction?
Roland Fauster, Contributing Editor at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, announced that Sony has analyzed user and activity data to better determine what gamers are doing and what they might want. And because they are evolving with gamers and industry trends, they have decided to discontinue the current version. He also shares some of the things that are coming to PlayStation and PlayStation Stars users:
- You can no longer sign up for PlayStation Stars. If you are already registered and cancel your membership, it will no longer be possible to join again.
- Current members can continue to collect and spend what they have earned until July 23. After that, there will be no new campaigns and the entire program will no longer offer new rewards and status benefits.
- If you still have points after that, you can redeem them until November 2, 2026. After that, your points will expire and the program will end completely.
What Happens Next?
Sony asserts that it will continue to support the community, but in a different way. The choice of words "current version" is also striking. This could allude to another rewards program or a revised version of PlayStation Stars. Fans hope so, as some have already joked about buying expensive games when the program announces rewards for them.

What do you think? Do you not care or have you used the program diligently?
