Quantic Dream’s future is in the spotlight once again as new revelations about their acquisition by NetEase raise intriguing questions about what's next for the studio.

Remember years ago? Nearly four, to be exact? We told you that Quantic Dream was working on a Star Wars game. Shortly after that news, a trailer followed, which only increased our excitement and made us more confident that we would soon be able to shape a Star Wars story to our liking. But, as is often the case, it was too good to be true. It’s 2025, and Star Wars Eclipse is still not released. However, we now know what’s not causing the delay. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest Star Wars Eclipse news.
Quantic Dream Stays on Course
Founded 28 years ago, Quantic Dream has stayed true to the strategy set in 2019 when NetEase first acquired a minority stake in the company. In 2022, the Chinese gaming giant took full control, purchasing 100% of the studio for approximately 100 million dollars. Now, three years later, new reports have surfaced, revealing more details about the acquisition. With NetEase recently making headlines for layoffs and studio closures, concerns about Quantic Dream’s future have naturally followed.
CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière addressed these concerns on LinkedIn, reassuring fans that Quantic Dream remains unaffected. He expressed sympathy for those impacted by the layoffs within NetEase but emphasized that both the Paris and Montreal studios are continuing development as planned. He also confirmed that the company is still hiring, directing interested candidates to the studio’s job listings.
Bigger Issues at Quantic Dream
So, no issues at Quantic Dream? Not exactly. While the studio remains operational, the project has faced some setbacks. Just half a year ago, the lead writer left the game, and recent reports suggest that Star Wars Eclipse may struggle to meet its 2027 release window. Despite these hurdles, Quantic Dream is actively hiring, with 90 positions currently available to help push the project forward.
However, potential applicants should be aware of the work environment. David Cage, the studio's head, has faced serious accusations regarding his management style. He has been criticized for fostering an abusive workplace, with allegations of harassment, and even reportedly making offensive remarks about the gaming community. These factors could make joining the team a difficult decision for some.
