Star Wars Outlaws takes off on Switch 2 – with a powerful update, top performance, and a planned demo.

With Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft brings the first open-world adventure in the Star Wars universe to the Nintendo Switch 2 – and surprises with powerful technology, clever gameplay, and a solid port. Now the first major update is available, and a demo has also been announced. We summarize everything you need to know.
Ubisoft Delivers Technical Fine-tuning Shortly After Release
Just a few days after the Switch 2 release of Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft has released a comprehensive first update. “Title Update 1” brings numerous bug fixes and technical improvements. Among other things, a bug that prevented NPCs from appearing in certain quests has been removed. The problem of protagonist Kay Vess getting stuck in environments has also been significantly reduced.
There are also noticeable visual optimizations: fewer pop-ins during fast movement, less flickering from smoke and light sources, and improved shadows and texture details ensure a more stable gaming experience – both in handheld and docked mode.
Gameplay With Familiar Strengths And Fresh Ideas
In terms of gameplay, Star Wars Outlaws presents itself as a solid action-adventure in the style of Tomb Raider, Uncharted, or Assassin's Creed. As the charming crook Kay Vess, you travel through the galaxy, complete main and side quests, and improve your reputation with four different crime syndicates. Although the reputation system remains somewhat superficial, it brings a welcome dynamic to the missions.

A Technical Milestone For The Switch 2
Despite skepticism beforehand, the port is impressive across the board. Performance is stable at 30 FPS – even during space battles or on busy planets. The graphics are surprisingly high quality, especially in the environments. There are minor weaknesses, such as vegetation on speeders loading slowly, but these are hardly noticeable. The sound design and voice acting also remain at the usual high Star Wars level.
Also included are the two DLCs Wild Card (featuring Lando Calrissian) and A Pirate's Fortune (featuring Hondo Onaka), which integrate seamlessly into the story and gameplay.
Demo Coming In 2025 – Three Hours Of Tatooine Adventure
Ubisoft also announced a free demo for the Switch 2, which is scheduled for release in 2025. In terms of content, it is similar to the versions for other platforms: players explore Tatooine, take on missions in Mos Eisley, play Sabacc, and venture into space battles – but without the option of transferring saves to the full version.
For those who are still undecided, the demo offers a great opportunity to try out the game for free and get a first impression of Kay Vess' adventure in the open Star Wars world. Those who switch to the full version afterwards can look forward to a technically strong, atmospherically dense adventure that makes impressive use of the Nintendo Switch 2.
