Sony showcases new games, DLCs, and remakes for PS5 and PS4 at State of Play Japan 2025.
On the night of November 11 to 12, Sony hosted a new edition of its State of Play event, this time with a focus on Japan. The presentation offered a colorful mix of new announcements, DLCs, and remakes designed to appeal to both fans of classic series and new players. We summarize the most important revelations.
Gran Turismo 7 Gets A Major Update
There was good news for racing game fans: the popular Gran Turismo 7 is getting a comprehensive add-on that integrates long-awaited features such as 24-hour races. Together with the free Spec 3 update, the Power Pack will be released on December 4. The update is designed to expand the depth of the game and offer new challenges to long-term players.
Elden Ring Nightreign Continues To Grow
Role-playing fans will also get their money's worth: The DLC “The Forsaken Hollows” for Elden Ring Nightreign will also be released on December 4. It brings two new Nightfarers and two new bosses into the game and expands FromSoftware's already extensive universe with additional story and gameplay elements.
Remakes And Classics Rediscovered
Another highlight was the new trailer for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, which will be released on February 5, 2026, for the PS5. The remake brings the iconic series to the console with a fresh chibi style, but also includes new content such as Keifa's adulthood and a completely new area. Dragon Quest may still be an insider tip for international players, but in Japan the series is one of the biggest JRPGs – similar in popularity to Final Fantasy.
Sony also announced a remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, which will be released on March 12, 2026, giving the classic horror game a new lease of life. The fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls also attracted attention with a new trailer and will launch its next closed beta on December 5, featuring Spider-Man and Ghost Rider as playable characters, among others.
