For this list, we decided to focus on games where the player can control a dog, and the dog is the protagonist or at least a co-protagonist. So no Dogmeat from Fallout (though of course, we love him).

Although Montaro is a simple and straightforward game, the little it does, it does brilliantly. Just look at those reviews! It's a small, adorable platform game where you play as a little dog. There is no more realistic simulator of a wolf's life than WolfQuest, and you know what? It's brilliant! This game puts us in the realistic scenario of a wolf that has to survive in a nature reserve, protecting its young pups from the many predators out there.
