Death doesn’t forget – and in Final Destination: Bloodline, it’s coming for the next generation.

Death is coming for all of us – even if it takes the most bizarre methods. The Final Destination franchise has traumatized an entire generation, making them fear roller coasters, tanning beds, logging trucks, and countless other everyday things. Now, after 14 long years, the wait is finally over: Final Destination 6 is officially happening – marking the franchise’s first return since 2011’s Final Destination 5. Who's in the cast? What twisted new ways will death find this time? And how does this new chapter connect to the previous films? Here’s everything we know so far.
Death Has a New Target
The overall more then $650 million box office–strong Final Destination franchise has always stayed true to its core formula. Each movie begins with a tragic event – like a roller coaster crash in Part 3 or a plane explosion in the original – only to reveal that it was all a premonition by one of the characters. That character then manages to save a group of people by warning them – but death doesn’t like to be cheated. One by one, the characters die in the most obscure ways, always triggered by bizarre chain reactions – killing them in the exact order they would have died in the prevented accident.

The film is set to hit theaters on May 16 and will be titled Final Destination: Bloodline. Thanks to the trailer, we know that the title refers to a grandmother who foresees the collapse of a building and saves everyone – only for death to come after her grandchildren years later. Fans of the series know that survivors having a child was the central plot point of the second film, where the owner of the funeral home explains that introducing a life that wasn’t meant to exist could invalidate the list – forcing death to start over. Apparently, that means starting over with the newly introduced life.
Confirmed cast members and what to expect
Confirmed cast members are:
- Kaitlyn Santa Juana
- Teo Briones
- Richard Harmon
- Owen Patrick Joyner
- Rya Kihlstedt
- Tony Todd
Tony Todd, who sadly passed away last year, made a name for himself starring in films like Night of the Living Dead, Candyman, and The Crow. He was also known for his role as William Bludworth, the funeral director in the Final Destination franchise. He and Clear Rivers are the only recurring characters in the franchise, with him appearing in Parts 1, 2, and 5 – and also making a brief cameo in Part 3 as the voice of the devil puppet in front of the roller coaster.
Since the longest film in the series – Part 1 – runs only 98 minutes, just 16 minutes longer than the shortest one, Part 4, we can assume that Bloodline will likely stick to the franchise’s traditional runtime.
As with every continuation of a classic franchise, a few questions always come up: Is there enough of the old to stay true to the original without simply repeating it – and does the new story make sense within the established universe? Tony Todd’s character remains the most mysterious figure in the franchise, and many fans are still unsure whether he’s actually helping the kids or if he might be a servant of Death itself. Will that mystery finally be resolved in Bloodline? And do we even want it to be solved? So many questions – but one thing’s for sure: the trailer already looks promising, the ticket is bought, and this one definitely deserves a chance.
