As the main protagonist in Black Ops 1, and a secondary protagonist in the sequel, Alex Mason is flawed by his inability to trust his own senses. This makes for a fascinatingly damaged character, who deeply changes over the two games, yet somehow manages to retain both his passion and impulsiveness, despite the chaos around him. His character arc is really well written, and you can see him evolve. You see this evolution in Black Ops 2 especially, where the player's choices start to affect him. He reappears in BOCW, but as it is the latest game in the series, we won’t talk about that here! | © Activision
Soap was the main character in the original Modern Warfare trilogy. His was one of the best character progressions in Call of Duty, going from an inexperienced rookie in Modern Warfare, to the hero of Modern Warfare 3. He had an unbelievable character arc, growing throughout the trilogy, and we really got to know him. This was incredible for our investment in the story, and meant that when the series wrapped up in Modern Warfare 3, we truly cared about his fate! © Activision
The thing that makes Reznov so special, at least for us, is how timeless the debate is about whether he was really a villain or not. To this day, we do not have an answer, but what is sure is that Reznov is one of the best characters ever to be in Call of Duty! Originally appearing in World At War, we met again in the original Black Ops, where it is revealed that he was actually dead all along and had been manipulating you behind the scenes. Truly jaw-dropping stuff here, and one of the best moments in any CoD campaign! | © Activision
It is no surprise that this iconic character is our number one pick for the best character in Call of Duty. Captain Price had a rich past, and becomes your closest ally in the Modern Warfare games. His character shines as one of the most entertaining and likeable in Call of Duty! His dark background with the villains made him a deep and interesting character, who became the focal point of any scene he entered. Let us not forget this iconic mustached man striding along with his rifle and his cigar. What’s not to love? | © Activision

Which is what made it truly difficult for us to choose who the best Call of Duty characters are, but we've done it. Strap yourselves in, folks, this one’s gonna be fun!
