We just needed to include one character from the current CoD, so here he is. Kingsley is the leader of the Vanguard special forces team and was introduced in Call of Duty: Vanguard. He studied in Cambridge before he decided to join the British Army to fight the Nazis. And yep, he is a pretty cool guy. | © Activision

6. Alex (Modern Warfare 2019)

Here we have the protagonist from Infinity Ward’s last entry in the series, and the 2019 reboot of the classic Modern Warfare series! Formerly of the CIA, Alex left to join the resistance and became one of the best modern protagonists in Call of Duty history. People were worried when Infinity Ward announced their rebooting of the Modern Warfare series, but few were left disappointed by Alex. | © Activision

5. Makarov (Modern Warfare 2 & 3)

It was all him! Makarov stands, even almost 10 years later, as one of the best villains in Call of Duty’s history. He originally appeared in Modern Warfare 2, before playing a large role in the third installment, where it was revealed that he had been pulling the strings all along! One of the most classic and sinister of Call of Duty's villains, he is a puppet master who'll forever haunt our memories with his creepy voice, and evil ambitions... | © Activision

4. Alex Mason (Black Ops 1, 2, & BOCW)

As the main protagonist in Black Ops 1, and a secondary protagonist in the sequel, Alex Mason is flawed by his inability to trust his own senses. This makes for a fascinatingly damaged character, who deeply changes over the two games, yet somehow manages to retain both his passion and impulsiveness, despite the chaos around him. His character arc is really well written, and you can see him evolve. You see this evolution in Black Ops 2 especially, where the player's choices start to affect him. He reappears in BOCW, but as it is the latest game in the series, we won’t talk about that here! | © Activision

3. Soap (Modern Warfare)

Soap was the main character in the original Modern Warfare trilogy. His was one of the best character progressions in Call of Duty, going from an inexperienced rookie in Modern Warfare, to the hero of Modern Warfare 3. He had an unbelievable character arc, growing throughout the trilogy, and we really got to know him. This was incredible for our investment in the story, and meant that when the series wrapped up in Modern Warfare 3, we truly cared about his fate! © Activision

2. Reznov (World At War and Black Ops 1)

The thing that makes Reznov so special, at least for us, is how timeless the debate is about whether he was really a villain or not. To this day, we do not have an answer, but what is sure is that Reznov is one of the best characters ever to be in Call of Duty! Originally appearing in World At War, we met again in the original Black Ops, where it is revealed that he was actually dead all along and had been manipulating you behind the scenes. Truly jaw-dropping stuff here, and one of the best moments in any CoD campaign! | © Activision

1. Captain Price (Modern Warfare Trilogy and Modern Warfare 2019)

It is no surprise that this iconic character is our number one pick for the best character in Call of Duty. Captain Price had a rich past, and becomes your closest ally in the Modern Warfare games. His character shines as one of the most entertaining and likeable in Call of Duty! His dark background with the villains made him a deep and interesting character, who became the focal point of any scene he entered. Let us not forget this iconic mustached man striding along with his rifle and his cigar. What’s not to love? | © Activision

It has not been hard to find fantastic characters in Call of Duty over the years, the franchise really has provided us with a plethora of standout individuals. It truly makes it hard for us to choose who the Best Call of Duty characters are! Not only that, but it was so difficult, in fact, that while trying to limit it down to five choices, we found it impossible to cut any of these characters from our list of the best Call of Duty characters.
