Modern Warfare 2 Season 1: Release Date
Modern Warfare Season 1 kicks off on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 10 AM PT (1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CET) and Season 1: Reloaded on December 14. The first season of Modern Warfare 2 is therefore releasing together with Warzone 2.0. This comes as no big surprise, as the seasons of both games will be running concurrent to each other – like they always have. Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Content
We're getting four new weapons in total in MW2 Season 1, three at launch and one with the mid-season update.
Here are the weapons and how you acquire them:
|Weapon||Class||Platform||Release||How To Unlock||Official Description|
|Victus XMR||Sniper Rifle||Imperatorium||Launch (November 16)||Battle Pass||Hard hitting, bolt action sniper rifle with .50 cal BMG ammunition. Its tungsten sabot tipped bullets are fast and powerful, but require precise shots over long distances.|
|BAS-P||SMG||Bruen Ops||Launch (November 16)||Battle Pass||An aggressive fire rate and modular frame make the BAS-P perfect for the discerning operator who wants to customize their submachine gun. Subsonic ammo hides kill skulls from the enemy team.|
|M13B||Assault Rifle||Bruen Ops||Launch (November 16)||Challenge or Bundle||The M13B features a short-stroke piston system that allows for a high rate of fire and low recoil.|
|Chimera||Assault Rifle||Bruen Ops||Midseason (December 14)||Challenge or Bundle||With an integrated suppressor and slow, high-energy .300 BLK rounds, the Chimera is adept at close-quarters combat. Subsonic Ammo hides skulls from the enemy team.|
I can't lie, I'm beyond hyped for the Chimera (Honeybadger) to return.
Shoothouse from MW2019 is coming as a new 6v6 map with the start of season 1, and Shipment will be added with Season 1: Reloaded. We can't say we're surprised, but it's not the most exciting maps they could have chosen. At least this should keep the camo grinders out of normal pubs.
Here is what Shoothouse looks like:
Thankfully it looks much the same as the original, just slightly reskinned.
And here is what Shipment looks like:
It's a shame they remade MW2019's version of Shipment and not the OG from CoD 4, but that was to be expected.
New Multiplayer Modes
The only new multiplayer mode we're getting is "CDL Moshpit", which is basically ranked but without ranks or an ELO system. CDL Moshpit which will use the rules of competitive CoD (4v4 Hardpoint, SnD, and Control), and it will be played on the map set chosen for the 2023 CDL Season. So if you're going to be grinding hard when ranked is released, this mode should give you a nice way to warm up for the season.
New Co-Op Missions
For the Spec-Ops mode we have a new mission called High Ground. Here is how the devs have described High Ground:
Successfully find and destroy enemy communication servers to locate and extract three hard drives with vital enemy intel. One Operator will be tasked with piloting an Attack Chopper to clear out dangerous land mines, while the other works with AI allies as part of a Ground Assault Team to infiltrate the buildings that contain enemy equipment.
Make sure to grind the Spec Ops each week to level up your kits!
We're getting six new operators in Season 1, one at launch wiht the Battle Pass, two in the midseason for free, and three as part of bundles for the World Cup event. The new operator coming at launch is called Zeus, and he looks trash:
Then in the midseason we're getting a character called Klaus, who they haven't shown us a picture of and Gaz, who has been in the series since MW2019 and looks much the same. The three football operators are Messi, Neymar and Pogba, and they will be introduced to the game via bundles sold during the World Cup event.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Battle Pass
As it's customary in Call of Duty, there will also be a Battle Pass in Season 1. The premium version will cost you 1000 CP or around $10. But this time, instead of unlocking all 100 tiers in a row, you can now choose what item you unlock with each level, so you can get all the stuff you want first, and then grind out the rest if you can be bothered.
It will also still offer cross-progression, meaning that you can level the Battle Pass in Warzone/DMZ or in Modern Warfare 2. As soon as Warzone Mobile will release in 2023, you will most likely be able to progress your Battle Pass there as well.
That's all we've got so far regarding the new season of Modern Warfare 2. Make sure to stop by again in the future as we will keep this article updated with everything you need to know.
