The Assassin's Creed Netflix Series Is Still Coming... Unfortunately

Did you know that Assassin's Creed would get a Netflix show? I mean... figures, but it's really not that good of an idea. We all saw the movie, right?

Sooooo, Assassin's Creed is getting a Netflix adaptation. After the horror that the movie was. Yeah... great idea, obviously.

Then again, are we even surprised? The Witcher, The Last of Us, Fallout... the entertainment industry has finally realized just how big gaming really is and want a slice of that very profitable cake. And what better opportunity than Assassin's Creed, a franchise that gives directors and producers so many options in terms of setting and story?

If you're now asking whether this is speculation or not: it isn't. Back in 2020, Netflix actually announced that Assassin's Creed would be getting a show. Since then, it has gotten awfully quiet around the project, though. Never a great sign.

It's only now, after the Ubisoft Forward event that happened recently, that we've gotten an update on the show. Marc-Alexis Côté gave the following statement:

It’s still early in development, but I can confirm that we are co-developing the Netflix series with Ubisoft Film & Television, Netflix, obviously, and an insanely talented showrunner, Jeb Stuart. It’s gonna be an epic, genre-bending, live-action adaptation of our video game series.

Now, I know I was very negative about this show beforehand. I still have vivid memories of me walking out of the movie theater completely disappointed after the AC movie. However, Jeb Stuart is indeed an incredibly talented showrunner. He has worked on Die Hard and Vikings: Valhalla, among other things. So having him on board is a great sign.

We know nothing else as of right now, only that it's still being worked on. Should we hear more, like about who will be in the show or what setting it will be, we will update this article.
