The Witcher Season 3: News, Cast, Story, Release Window - What We Know

The Witcher season 3 has wrapped up filming. If you're curious about the release date, the cast and other news, here is everything you need to know about season 3 of following our favorite mutant.

When it comes to iconic performances, I would put Henry Cavill's Geralt on par with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. For me, he pretty much carries the whole show, which I never would have expected before the show's release. I can't wait to see more of him in the new season, which luckily has already been confirmed and started filming.

The Witcher Season 3: What We Can Expect

Since we have the books, the story is based on, we can pretty much already tell what will happen in season 3 of The Witcher.

To further confirm the plot, the official Twitter account of the series posted a plot summary:

With this, they also revealed the main location, where this season will take place. If they stay true to the books, which seems likely if you look at the tweet, Ciry will be training her sorcery at the protected Fortress of Aretuza.

For the cast, we know that most of the main cast of the last two seasons will make their return. Don't worry, Henry Cavill will not leave us all too soon, he is a geek to the bone, and born to bring the white wolf to your screens. Freya Allan (Ciry) and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) will also be making their return.

We might get a recast though. Redanian Intelligence posted an article, where they showed pictures from set. It seems that Sam Woolf will replace Chris Fulton as the fire mage Rience, who is a major antagonist of season 2. From the on-set pictures, it looks like Rience will play a major role in the new season again, so I'm curious as to why they would recast him.

We might just also get a new The Witcher game, which would be pretty awesome if you ask me:

Joining them, we will also see a bunch of new characters and new roles, which got revealed through the official The Witcher Twitter account. It seems they really like to post stuff on their Twitter.

This tells us quite a bit about the plot as well, knowing which character will be showing up. I am pretty excited about the additions and can't wait to see what roles they will play in the story.

We are happy and lucky, we got The Witcher as a good gaming adaptation. Now give us one of these:

Release Window

Netflix has officially revealed the release window for The Witcher season 3. I'm saying window because the date hasn't unfortunately been announced. But what we have now is better than before because we only had our predictions back then.

Anyway, the release window for The Witcher season 3 is summer 2023. Kinda surprising, to be honest. Witcher always released during winter before. But anyway, lucky us, we're gonna get the show even sooner!

For the second season, though, there were delays due to covid, so there could be an even earlier release; maybe in the middle of the next year, not the end.
