Recently, Pedro Pascal let us know just how confident he is that The Last of Us TV series will live up to the game. Since dear Pedro starred in The Mandalorian and Game of Thrones, we'll take his word for it. He knows more about TV greatness than we do. The only unfortunate byproduct of this is that greatness takes time, and now we get to feel that with the series' delayed release date.

The Last of Us TV Series Not Coming in 2022

In an interview with Deadline, HBO CCO Casey Bloys revealed that the TV series will not be released in 2022:

It’s not going to air in 2022. They are still shooting in Canada. I imagine you will see it in ’23. I have seen some early episodes and I’m very excited. Craig did Chernobyl for us, he is a fantastic writer and director. What I’ve seen looks amazing, so I’m excited for it, but it will not be in ’22.

Oh yeah, in case you didn't know: The director and writer of Chernobyl is helming this one. No big deal, just that it's a big f*cking deal.

If you ask me – which you're not, but I'll answer anyway: I don't mind the delay, as long as it means they deliver quality rather than rushing it. Particularly a show like The Last of Us comes with huge expectations, and I'd rather them deliver something profound than something bland like The Witcher... yeah, I just said that.
