Just a few minutes ago, it was announced that Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard. This is probably one of the biggest deals in the gaming industry ever – 68.7 billion dollars... Yeah you read that right, billion.

But what the hell does that mean? Will Microsoft be the biggest player on the gaming market? And will all the Activision Blizzard games be Xbox exclusive from now on?

Microsoft Confirms That Xbox Will Remain On PlayStation

To the delight of all PlayStation players who don't feel like buying an Xbox, Microsoft have now confirmed that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation:

As expected, Microsoft does not want to do without the incredibly large CoD fan base on the PlayStation. Fantastic news.

With this transaction, Microsoft will take over nearly 400 million monthly players and get access to some of the biggest gaming franchises of the world. Those include Call of Duty, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Overwatch. On the other hand, Activision will gain access to a vast array of artificial intelligence and programming talent.

So all in all, this is a win for everybody, right? Microsoft can take care of all the harassment and other sh** going on at Blizzard, and we as gamers will probably get better games in the future. Well yes, of course, that could very well happen, but it could also mean that Microsoft decides to keep their new franchises Xbox exclusive.

Especially Call of Duty has a huge fan base on PlayStation. Would Microsoft really risk losing a big part of the CoD Community by making Call of Duty Xbox and PC exclusive? We don't think so. But they could...

It definitely is a huge step forward for Microsoft in the gaming industry and a good addition to their Game Pass. They already purchased Bethesda a while back after all, so Microsoft does have quite a good lineup now.

However, according to Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, it will probably take until June 30, 2023, to complete this transaction, and both companies will continue to operate completely autonomously until then.

What do you think about Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard? Good or bad?
